International Organization for Migration Data Portal

#migration#oecd#found

I've written previously on OECD stats around migration, and I recently found IOM maintains a global data portal that tracks migration numbers throughout the year. So instead of waiting each year for the OECD report on Migration, I can just look at this dataset! Very exciting news for those of us who like thinking about mobility.

Migration flows look to have hit another record high in 2024, continuing a long-standing trend, with 3.7% of the world re-settling in a country different than their birth country. That's over 300MM people, with the largest outflows from India (18.5MM), China (11.7MM), Mexico (11.6MM), Ukraine (9.8MM), and Russia (9.1MM).

Also found this fascinating chart on countries with highest proportions of immigrants: Qatar, UAE, Monaco, Liechtenstein, and Kuwait.
