Bilingualism and Dementia Prevention: Catalonia Study in Progress

There's growing research about the positive effects of bilingualism on delaying the onset of dementia, and a new 3-year study kicked off a few months ago in Catalonia that I'm tracking:

This study is especially interesting because it's following a healthy population (2,700) of 45-74 year olds whose parents were diagnosed with Alzheimers, 32% of whom carry the gene associated with increased risk of developing the disease. As these folks reach the age where Alzheimer's is a higher risk, it'll be interesting to see if the data support this delayed onset theory.
