Denmark's Job Shortage List

#list#recruitment#categories

The Danish Agency for Labor Market and Recruitment recently updated its list of job categories with a shortage of qualified professionals. I see this as an interesting proxy of what developed countries are looking for right now in terms of manpower, and esp where they can't find domestic talent and need immigration to plug the gaps.

Some of the listings/job categories were to be expected:

  • Programmer/developer
  • Physician assistant
  • Biologist

And others are reflective of growing and concerning trends, for example the site lists Military officer as a position with a shortage. While not necessarily surprising -- many countries are struggling with military recruitment especially in technical or engineering related areas -- it does reflect a general gap in bodies and skills across all of society. I mean basically every job group is represented on here: psychologists, social workers, restaurant managers, nurses, teaching assistants, the list goes on.

It's no longer a skill gap in science and medicine, but rather a "bodies gap" as societies deal with the realities of shrinking native populations. 20% of Denmark is above the age of 65, and net positive migration is the only reason the overall population count didn't go down last year.

If you're qualified (generally defined in this list as having a relevant degree), lots of jobs to go after at the moment!
