Global Citizen Solution Publishes List of Top Nomad Destinations
GCS, a mobility consulting firm just refreshed their annual report on top nomad destinations. Spain, Portugal, and UAE are still top contenders, with Uruguay somehow sliding into top 3 status. That's a slightly curious bump to me given the recent introduction of the program, so I'm curious how many people they were able to interview for each country / if they hit stag sig.
Two interesting highlights from the report:
"Scale & Momentum
- 91% of tracked nomad/remote-worker visas were launched after 2020, evidencing a rapid, post-pandemic policy wave.
- Who Nomads Are (2025 snapshot)
- Affluent profile: 79% earn >$50k; average salary ~$124,416.
- Strong “passport effect”: nationals from high-mobility countries dominate; weaker passports face layered barriers and use second citizenship as a mobility hedge.
- “Slomadism” (longer stays) is rising, often aligned with residency/citizenship goals."
I wrote previously how DN visas will look more and more like 1 year trial periods, and the data from the report seem to support that with 1 year visas being the global standard at ~66% of all programs tracked. Currently only 3 countries support DNVs with direct-to-citizenship pathways: Czechia, Greece, and Spain.
